The Opportunity

Pender PR partnered with award-winning filmmaker Camille Hollett-French and her directing partner, Columbia University’s scientist-turned-director Ipek Ensari, PhD, to make a film about endometriosis, a chronic condition with a high burden and no cure that affects approximately 10% of menstruating humans, approximately 200 million people around the globe. We were brought onto the team right after the films completing for he announcement of the film’s world premiere as a part of Slamdance 2021’s Unstoppable Program. We worked alongside the team to create a marketing plan that included traditional PR, social media and an influencer strategy. The goal of our outreach was to get as many people to watch the film as possible in order to make changes in the healthcare system. Instead of just point to problems with our systems Camille and Ipek are pointing to solutions in this film. We are always interested in working on projects and with people who want to change the world for the better.

The Results

We were brought on board for the festival launch for Slamdance 2021, just released a press and are actively pitching the team. We intend to keep working with the team through their festival run and launch. Camille and Ipek want to keep telling stories about “women’s” reproductive health grounded in academic research. They hope to continue providing audiences with the joy of animated uteri on screen and are already in development on the documentary feature ENDOMIC: Uncut, we hope to be there for the journey too. This is just the beginning!
